Atlantic Center for the Arts has several activities coming up.

ACA Spotlight, featuring Michelle Grabner, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Harris House, 214 S. Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach.

Study works and learn techniques from art professionals, led by ACA Community Artist Bethany Bennett. Participants should bring canvas or bristol board, brushes and paint colors of their choice. If you do not have these supplies, ACA will provide them for a donation. No registration required. Walk-ins welcome.

Nature Sketch Club will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at 1414 Art Center Ave., New Smyrna Beach. Ms. Bennett will lead the free, outdoor class in sketch techniques and wellness exercises.

Spencer Pettit: Elusiveness and Illusion in Contemporary Art is on exhibit to July 30 at ACA Downtown: Arts on Douglas Feature Gallery, 123 Douglas St., New Smyrna Beach.

Atlantic Center for the Arts 33rd annual University Student Exhibit is on display to Aug. 6 at ACA Main Campus Pabst Visitor Center & Gallery.

Echoes from the Past: Drawings by Dennis Angel is on exhibit to Aug 13 at ACA Downtown: Arts on Douglas.

STEAM Sketch Club will meet at noon Mondays to Aug. 1 and Poetry Kickoff will be at 10 a.m. Fridays to Aug. 5 at the Alonzo “Babe” James Community Center, 201 N. Myrtle Ave., New Smyrna Beach. Free and open to youth ages 12 to 17. To register, call (386) 410-2890.

Artists Workshop Inc. of New Smyrna Beach offers adult classes and workshops in the studio at Marine Discovery Center, 540 Barracuda Blvd.

The exhibit "Go Figure – Figures and Portraits” will be on display to Aug. 30 at the gallery at 115 Canal St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

July exhibit in the Founders Gallery is “10, The Sixth Annual Members Exhibit.” Hub members interpret the number 10 in celebration of The Hub’s 10th anniversary.

Stitched, Stamped & Sculpted,A Collection Of Florida Fiber Art is on display until Aug. 14.

A workshop, Felted Vessels with Liz Canali, will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30. Using a circular template, students will work with the seamless, flat resist method. The five-hour workshop is beginner friendly. Participants should bring a lunch or a snack; a fridge is available. Participants are asked to bring two old towels, a quart container, a small kitchen sponge, a pair of small sharp scissors, and a plastic bag for carrying wet towels home. Cost is $150 per member or $167 per non-member

Morning Mindfulness with Morgan McManus: Vocal Toning will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, July 21. Ms. McManus will teach a simple technique to soothe your mind and free your authentic voice. Participants should being bring a yoga mat or meditation pillow for comfort. Participants must enter by 8:40 a.m. as doors will be locked during the program. Late arrivals will not be admitted or refunded. Admission is $22 for members or $24 for non-members.

Museum of Arts & Sciences

The Museum of Arts & Sciences offers events and exhibits at 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.

A History Talk, “The Fury of the Northmen: An Introduction to the History of the Vikings,” will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 15. Curator of Education and History Zach Zacharias will discuss Vikings history and culture in the Root Family Auditorium. Admission is free for members or with paid museum admission.

MOAS has joined hundreds of sites across the country to celebrate the release of the first science images from the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA’s next great space science observatory.

MOAS will celebrate the first released images from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Curator of Astronomy Seth Mayo will present “Unfolding the University with the JWST” in the Lohman Planetarium. At 3:30 p.m. the museum will live stream a NASA Expert Panel Discussion.

Admission to the planetarium show and panel discussion is included with museum admission and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow seating for the panel discussion live stream will be in the Root Family Auditorium.

Florida Vistas Book Club will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art. The club will discuss “The Moor's Account” by author Laila Lalmi. Reservations are required. Admission if free for members and $5 for non-members.

A wine tasting, Summertime Red, White & Rose, with S.R. Perrott will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21. The program will feature wines that are refreshing for summertime with pairings of light appetizers from Ravish Catering. The event is for ages 21 and older. Seating is limited. “Key West: Southernmost USA” exhibit is on display. Explore the southernmost point of the continental United States.

Kablam! Pop Art/Op Art from the Collection will be on display from until to July 31.

The Bitten Line: Etchings from the Collection will be on display to July 17, including examples from the Renaissance to the present era from artists like Rembrandt, Hogarth, Degas and Renoir.

A River Runs Through It: Hudson River School and Other Landscapes from the Collection will be on display to July 31. The exhibit features 19th and early 20th century scenes of waterways from around the country.

Child’s Play: Historical Toys and Games from the Collection will be on display to Sunday, Aug. 28.

Beyond the Plate: Murals and Other Ceramics from the Kendall Art Center will be on display to July 17.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Pop-up window exhibit features 27 artists

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens will host a pop-up window exhibit, “Verdant Visions,” until July 18 at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach.

In this green-themed community exhibit, 27 artists celebrate spring and all things fresh and new. The 48 pieces of art on display were created using a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed-media, photography and fused glass.

An Xpress Yourself Art Class will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Schnebly Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach.

The class will feature creation of tie dye T-shirts. Materials will be supplied.

Summer art classes for children started June 6. Classes start at $130 per week.

Acrylic Painting Class for ages 18 and older will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The classes are taught by professional artists Aaron Shelton and Savannah Zanosky. These are two-class sessions and supplies are included. Each class is $60 and includes a professionally hand-stretched canvas.

The Fall Festival of the Arts DeLand and The Museum of Art DeLand will host an artist talk with Paul Houzell at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Museum of Art-DeLand, 600 N. Woodland Blvd.

This talk is part of the Black Arts, Artists and History Speaker Series.

The Museum of Art DeLand will host the exhibit of Clyde Butcher, Cuba: The Natural Beauty, until Sept. 18 at 100 N. Woodland Blvd.,

Commissioned by the United Nations to create a portfolio of the mountainous lands of Cuba, Mr. Butcher set out on three, week-long expeditions into unfamiliar lands. His photography transcends political boundaries, challenging us to work together to protect natural places across the globe.

Admission is free for members and $5 for non-members.

Gateway Center for the Arts

Gateway Center for the Arts will host pottery classes for adults from noon to 2 p.m. each Wednesday at 880 N. U.S. 17/92, DeBary.

Classes are for beginner and intermediate students. Each session is $50. Masks are required and class sizes are limited.

Open Studio is at 10 a.m. each Tuesday.

Volunteers are needed. Volunteers will be able to participate in events and shows for free, while also gaining credit for future classes and shows.
